Orientation and Mobility Specialist - School

Job Summary :

We are looking for a talented Orientation and Mobility Specialist with School experience to work at an educational facility in University Place, Washington.

This is an excellent opportunity to build upon your O&M skills while advancing your career. The job will entail teaching individuals with visual impairments to travel safely, confidently and independently in their environment.

Job Responsibilities :

• Accurately assess and identify student needs and functioning level related to orientation and mobility.
• Plan, design and implement individualized instructional programs using materials and equipment appropriate for student needs.
• Incorporate both school and residential program instruction as deemed appropriate to ensure student progress.
• Develop appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives, and recommend accommodations.
• Monitor students’ progress using appropriate methods and criteria in the areas of curriculum, assessments, and IEP goals.

Job Requirements :

• Certified as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
• Current BLS / CPR certification
• 6 months of experience within the last 5 years
